1911 Festival of Empire at Crystal Palace – Wednesday 18 May

Sydenham Society event  – Talk on the 1911 Festival of Empire at The Crystal Palace
Wednesday 18 May, 7.45, the Golden Lion, Sydenham Road; admission £2
To mark the centenary of the 1911 Festival of Empire, author and historian Jan Piggott will give an illustrated talk on this landmark event. The festival was held to celebrate the coronation of George V and included scale models of every Parliament building in the Empire, the lively King’s Day with 100,000 children taking part and the Pageant of London. This promises to be a fascinating and illuminating evening.
