Light at the end of the tunnel for Forest Hill subway?

Long-awaited improvements to the Forest Hill underpass may at last soon be underway according to information received from LBL and  Network Rail.

The project (which has been delayed for over four years) will finally go ahead in September. For the past few months, LBL has been awaiting a final go-ahead from Network Rail who have to officially issue a notice of closure while the work is being carried out. This has now been received by LBL and a final design is expected to be available shortly.

Once approval has been obtained, the cladding and lighting will be ordered, along with the CCTV connection. Assuming that the above elements progress according to plan, LBL officers estimate that Network Rail should be on site carrying out surface water drainage/resurfacing works at the beginning of September and the cladding/lighting works will follow on approximately 19th September for 3 weeks giving a completion date of October 7.
