Local bid for Portas funds for Sydenham, Kirkdale and Forest Hill
The Department for Communities and Local Government has launched a £1m fund that will help local communities bring empty shops in town centres into use as one of the key components of its response to the Mary Portas’ review of high street in the UK. Cash from the fund would be used to return empty shops to use, with money being awarded to locations delivering the most creative and effective revitalisation projects, and a National Markets Day to encourage entrepreneurs.
Towns across the country are vying to get a share of the fund – up to £100,000 for each centre. Here is the film made to back up the bid for Forest Hill, Kirkdale Village and Sydenham.
