Decision on fate of Sydenham Police station approaches

Tomorrow’s South London Press will run an article about the ongoing consultation on the fate of Sydenham Police Station. The Metropolitan Police are considering the relocation of the Sydenham, Forest Hill and Perry Vale Safer Neighbourhood Teams to Catford police station, Bromley Road SE6 and to sell the police station in Dartmouth Road SE26.

We are very concerned about this proposal, particularly as Sydenham is experiencing high levels of crime (it is currently a “hotspot” for robbery and knife crime in Lewisham). The Sydenham Society is opposed to this move and will be seeking the support of councillors, traders and local organisations to help oppose it.
