The History of St Michael and All Angels Church
St Michael and All Angels Church, Champion Crescent, Lower Sydenham SE26 4HH is celebrating its 150th Anniversary with a series of events.
At 8pm on Saturday 19th October Tim Walder will be giving a talk about the history of the church. The talk will take place in the church itself, which will give an opportunity to view this unusual and intact 1950s building.
The talk will feature a PowerPoint presentation about the history of the church and the immediate area.
Refreshments (tea and coffee and biscuits) will be offered. There will also be a display of images and artefacts from the church’s archives to peruse. The event will last about an hour and there will be the chance to ask questions. There will be a voluntary retiring collection in aid of church funds.
A booklet featuring the history of the church in the early years (1861 to 1883) is available for sale at the price of £1.
