Mayor & Cabinet meeting considers legal action

Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign
Mayor & Cabinet meeting considers legal action

The next key event in the campaign is the Mayor & Cabinet meeting at 6pm on Wednesday 22nd October, where an update and report will be presented by officers.

Details of the report can be found here

Two weeks ago LBL sent a legal letter to the pub owners asking them to set out a detailed schedule of when they intend to rebuild the pub. If Purelake fail to respond within 14 days, the Council will commence legal action against them.

The key passage of the report to be presented to M&C on Wednesday warns the owners that…..

due to the unsatisfactory state of the site, and the significant time that has passed without the Deed of Variation having been signed since the outcome reached at the April 2013 Committee, they are requested to provide officers with a detailed schedule setting out their proposals for compliance with the provisions of Schedule 10 of the S106 Agreement. If such details are not submitted within an agreed timescale, the Council will seek to commence appropriate legal proceedings against the owners of the site to ensure compliance with the S106 Agreement.

I’d ask Purelake to seriously consider returning to the site as soon as possible to complete the work in order to avoid lengthy and costly legal action. The core campaign group are willing to talk to Purelake at any time in order to put them in touch with pub groups who we know are interested in running the Greyhound.
