The Greyhound – work begins!

I am delighted to report (for those who have not already spotted this) that work recommenced on the Greyhound pub yesterday, with the arrival and erection of scaffolding.

I am certain that this means that we can soon see work on the building underway and that the pub will be completed by April 2015.

This is huge achievement for our Rebuild the Greyhound Pub campaign. Many thanks to all of you who helped us achieve this success. Without the help, support and involvement of Society members and the local community we could not have made this breakthrough. We also need to thank our local councillors and Lewisham’s mayor who responded to the campaign with urgency and vigour.

During the coming months we will be monitoring the work closely and meeting regularly with the Chief Executive and Head of Planning at LBL to ensure that progress is maintained.

Once completed we can welcome this well-loved local landmark back to our high street and with it two other businesses to the rear and side of the pub.
