Tree removed to make way for new footbridge spanning rail line

Local protests to save a tree on Sydenham Park Road have sadly been unsuccessful. The tree has now been cut down to make way for a giant crane transporting and moving the new central span of the bridge into place. Just over 2,000 people registered their protest about the removal of the tree on the change.org website.

Four new trees were planned as part of the new bridge construction. Council officers are now looking to see if more trees can now be planted in the locality.

Work on improving the Sydenham Park Footbridge which spans the railway line, between Dacres Road and Sydenham Park, has now entered its second phase. The work to replace the central span is due to take place starting on the weekend of 12/13 November.
