Street Trees for Living
New area representative wanted
The volunteer Area Representative (‘Rep’) oversees and supports the planting of initially 25 new street trees across the borough each year, and would suit a ‘people person’ who would like to develop their knowledge of street trees.
Purpose
Local sponsors are usually coordinated by a ‘Street Representative’; a local person leading on coordinating payments and consents for new street trees. The Area Rep is responsible for coordinating a number of Street Reps. This ensures the planting of around 25 or more new trees per year per ward. This is a critical role for the charity to increase the number of street trees.
Excellent communication and motivational skills (in person/phone/ email) are essential,
together with excellent organisational skills, the ability to use own initiative, and a friendly, positive approach. The volunteer must be familiar with MS Excel, or willing to learn. The time commitment is estimated at around 2.5 hours a week.

- Recommending tree species
- Providing guidance watering requirements
- Responding to any problems with tree planting (e.g. wrong site/ species)

- Liaising closely with other Area Reps and the Project Manager Residential Street
Tree Planting Support available for the Area Rep

- Every newly appointed area rep will be allocated an Area Rep Mentor who will offer support as needed particularly in the first year.
- Resources will be provided e.g. choice of species, standard forms etc.
