“Turn up and go” weekday train service at Penge East starts in mid December

Starting on the 15th December, South Eastern Railways are offering a weekday service every 15 minutes on the Orpington – London Victoria route.

This means that there will be four trains an hour between 8.03am to 23.33pm into Victoria and four trains per hour from Victoria between 5.57am and 23.27pm. At the moment, a four trains per hour service only operates on this line during the morning and evening rush hours.

According to South Eastern this change means a “turn up and go” service at local stations such as Penge East and Sydenham Hill – a slight exaggeration possibly, but trains every fifteen minutes instead of half an hour throughout the day is going to make a real difference.

Please note: the improved service applies to weekday (Monday-Friday) trains not to weekends.
