“During the past week (week 8) we have constructed the new access entrance into Chrisnic Court, Kirkdale. This was completed within 3 days, thanks to the kind co-operation of local residents, who made alternative parking arrangements for the duration of the works.

“A substantial number of works barriers were removed from Sydenham Road this week, in preparation for the beginning of the Christmas moratorium period. Work to install ducting, street lighting, traffic signals and CCTV along Sydenham Road has also been suspended until after the moratorium.

“In the coming week, paving and kerb works will continue in Kirkdale and in Venner Road.

“For up to the minute project information, come and see us at our Pop In Centre located at 24a Sydenham Road, where members of our team are on hand to deal with any questions you may have regarding the project.”

“This week, we have continued installing ducting and new chambers to accommodate the new street lighting, traffic signals and CCTV. Also masons have been busy cutting and laying the new ‘Witherford’ paving slabs outside 2-6 Sydenham Road (see picture below) and 264-270 Kirkdale. Feedback so far, from both shoppers and businesses, has been very positive.

“A number of visitors have called in to our newly-opened ‘pop in’ centre and site office at 24a Sydenham Road. Members of the construction team are on hand there to provide information and answer any questions about the project.

“In the coming week we will be winding down our operations on Sydenham Road, in preparation for the Christmas moratorium on works to the main shopping area. This will last from 5 November until 13 January 2013.

“During this period, the construction works will be predominantly confined to these pre-agreed areas:

• Venner Road
• Queensthorpe Road
• Cobbs Corner into Westwood Hill
• between 291-297 Kirkdale.”
