Written by indie power couple Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, Frances Ha is the coolest film of 2013. Directed by Baumbach it tracks the quarter life crisis of Frances Halladay (Gerwig).
Frances is a 27-year-old apprentice dancer who has been living with her best friend Sophie since they left college. When Sophie moves out to live with her boyfriend, their content life in Brooklyn is disrupted and Frances is reluctantly forced into confronting her life.
With cinematography and humour reminiscent of the best Woody Allen and a star turn from Gerwig, this is a contemporary classic not to be missed.
★★★★★ With its swift, jaunty rhythms and sharp, off-kilter jokes, “Frances Ha” is frequently delightful. A. O. Scott, NEW YORK TIMES
★★★★ Gerwig superbly incarnates the contradictions of this insecure woman. Anthony Quinn, THE INDEPENDENT
