The Planning Inspectorate has overturned Lewisham’s decision
Last week, Lewisham council took the drastic step of shutting down the Catford Mews Cinema in the heart of the town centre’s main shopping mall.
On Tuesday October 22nd Lewisham’s Strategic Planning Committee gave planning consent for the controversial scheme to redevelop the former gasworks site at Lower Sydenham.
We express our deep concerns about the Barratt’s planning application proposed for the site of the former gas holders at Bell Green, which relies on tall buildings which are far too high for the area, with lower quality housing.
It isn’t over yet!
Work will start shortly on improvements to the junction of Mayow Road/Sydenham Road.
The two applications to open a gaming establishment been refused by Lewisham Council.

M&S intend to open a food hall at Bell Green. The new store will occupy one side of the Currys/PC World store currently on the site. PC World will build a mezzanine floor above their “reduced-size” shop to accommodate their goods – rather like the Next store close by.
Merkur Slots applies to open slot machine business on former Santander site at 53 Sydenham Road.
