Snow comes, snow goes

Snowfall delights locals

Sunday’s snowfall delighted local children and their families, although maybe not all car drivers or pedestrians. But sadly the whte stuff came and went overnight. Here are some photos of the scene in Mayow Park on Sunday afternoon.

The next day (25 January) was Robert Burns’ birthday. Appropriately the Bard had a few words to say about falling snow and its quick disappearance. Here is a short excerpt from his epic poem Tam O Shanter about the fleeting nature of snow (and life!). 

But pleasures are like poppies spread,
You seize the flower, its bloom is shed;
Or like the snow falls in the river,
A moment white — then melts for ever
