Those of us in Sydenham and Forest Hill can stay a little longer in bed as it will be arriving in Crystal Palace Park around 10.30 in the morning. Coming through Penge, the torch bearer will travel up Crystal Palace Park Road and enter the park by Fisherman’s Gate (by the fishing lake). From there the torch will travel along the hard surface of the park track, up to the site of the old Crystal Palace, down the central steps of the Terraces to the National Sports Stadium. It is understood that the torch will be run twice around the circuit of the Stadium, before the runners and the entourage take a half hour break.

A second opportunity to see the Olympic Torch will be when the torch bearer retraces the route up the steps of the old Crystal Palace until it reaches Anerley Hill and continues its way into the borough of Croydon via Church Road at 11.37am.
