Founded in 2012 at the Royal College of Music, London, the Marmen Quartet consists of Johannes Marmen, Ricky Gore, Joshua Hayward and Anton Crayton. Having all previously collaborated extensively in other chamber music environments, their diverse experiences and love of chamber music, combined with a mutual interest in the full range of the classical repertoire, is a constant inspiration for the ensemble. All four players have played across the globe in venues including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and the Wigmore Hall.
Since its formation, the Marmen Quartet has enjoyed masterclasses with Shmuel Ashkenazi and Johannes Meissl, as well as regular coaching sessions with Simon Rowland-Jones and the late Peter Cropper. As the winners of Music In The Round’s professional development scheme – ‘Bridge’ – they will receive three years of mentoring, financial support, guidance in every aspect of life as a string quartet and regular performance opportunities.
